Enrolments

The school has a designated enrolment catchment area that includes the entire Wairarapa region, and is able to accept applications for enrolment from families residing within this area.

The school accepts applications for enrolment at any time but all applications for admission for future years remain conditional until the particular enrolment closing date has been reached. This is currently at the end of the second term of the year preceding the desired year of entry.

At that time, all applications are reviewed against the school’s preferential enrolment criteria, and places are allocated in adherence to the number of criteria that applicants can address. Waiting-lists are established each year and priority is given to these applicants should a vacancy occur.

The traditional intake years are at Year 0 (15), Year 1 (5), Year 4 (2), and Y7. The Year 0 class is the new-entrant intake for children n who turn five years after the commencement of the second term of each year.

The Trinity Schools' Trust Board has established guaranteed rights of passage for Year 7 and Year 9 entry, for girls moving from Hadlow to St Matthew's, and for Year 9 entry for boys moving from Hadlow to Rathkeale.

This guarantee is subject to the following conditions:

1.  The pupil and their parents have supported and abided by the Special Character of Hadlow and the wider Trinity system.

2.  The pupil and their parents have completed the application for admission enrolment forms for St Matthew's or Rathkeale by the publicised enrolment close dates.

3.  The guarantee of Year 9 entry into St Matthew's is based on the pupil having attended Hadlow for Years 7 & 8; otherwise it is in an availablity basis.

4.  Entry into St Matthew's during Year 7 or 8 is on an availabilty basis.

Entry into boarding at either of the colleges remains the decision of the principal at each school.
